Media partners BBC, Thomson Foundation and Thomson Reuters, tour first media industry skills academy of its kind in the region

twofour54, in partnership with world-renowned training institutions, the BBC, Thomson Foundation and Thomson Reuters, has officially opened the doors to twofour54 tadreeb; its state-of-the-art media industry skills training academy.

Attending the official opening ceremony were twofour54 tadreeb’s key partners including, Lord Fowler, Chairman of Thomson Foundation; Caroline Prendergast, Training and Development Director, BBC; and Monique Villa, CEO of Thomson Reuters Foundation.

twofour54 tadreeb is the region’s premier vocational training academy and the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to offer fully bi-lingual media industry skills training courses from some of the world’s leading media organisations in a world-class training environment.

twofour54 tadreeb will help to develop the media and content creation talent pool across the MENA region through up-skilling and re-skilling existing media professionals. This is the first step towards twofour54’s goal of establishing a sustainable, Arabic media and content creation industry.

Speaking at the opening, twofour54 CEO Tony Orsten commented: “twofour54 began its journey in October 2008 with a vision to establish a dedicated and integrated ecosystem for Arabic content creation; a regional centre of excellence for the Arab world. The significance of twofour54 tadreeb should not be underestimated; through this dedicated training academy we are taking major steps forward in developing the Arabic content creation talent pool across the Middle East and North Africa.”

twofour54 tadreeb offers more 200 bi-lingual training courses across a range of media disciplines including; Television, Broadcast Technology, Journalism, Digital Media, Radio and Media Business. This is set to be extended to include animation, web application and design, games development and even media business courses as new training providers are identified.

Another factor setting the twofour54 tadreeb Academy apart from other training institutions in the region is its ability to provide bespoke training plans, tailor-made to suit the needs of individual companies. Courses can take place at the purpose built academy or on location at the client’s premises anywhere in the region, offering a flexible approach to professional training.
