twofour54, the commercial arm of the Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi, and Emirates Novel Award, an initiative to promote culture and education in the UAE through writing, today announced their joint participation at the upcoming Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) to promote training courses and creative talent.

“This hugely popular fair is an excellent opportunity for twofour54 to present its initiatives to nurture, support and train creative Arab talent and encourage more young people to develop their skills and join our community,” said Maryam Al Mheiri, Chief Operating Officer of twofour54. “Young creative minds are at the heart of our mission to build an Arabic media and entertainment hub in Abu Dhabi. At the ADIBF, we will showcase the success of our talent and launch projects brought to life with twofour54’s support.”

Maitha Al Khayat, an Emirati author supported by twofour54 creative labwill be previewing the anticipated children’s reading application I Love My Mum’s Pretty Veil at the stand. The app will be available for download on App Store on May 10. The app portrays children’s love for the modesty of mothers who take pride in wearing their veils and it is designed to promote cultural heritage and values among young girls in the Gulf and throughout the Arab World in an educational interactive way.

Winner of the Pitchathon at Comic Con 2013, Shihab Aldeen Al Musharaf, the freelance animator and writer of “Aladdin the bounty hunter”, a modernized version of the classical Arabian Story Alladdin, in which Aladdin hunts criminal that uses Jinnis in their crimes, will be presenting his comic book, and developing live illustrations on the stand.

The Black Box Cinema Project, an initiative by ADIBF and Abu Dhabi Tourism and Cultural Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), which was developed exclusively by the Emirati actor and film director Nawaf Al Janahi, will be showing a number of creative lab community films. They include Feeding 500, The Journey, Smaller Than the Sky, Tooth of Hope, Pillars, Daddy ABC, and Ostora as well as around fifteen Emirati short feature, documentary, and animation movies by creative lab talent throughout the duration of the book fair.

At the stand, twofour54 tadreeb media training academy will promote bi-lingual short courses running in May and June, including: Introduction to Adobe InDesign, “Oriented” Arabic Conversation, Advanced Adobe InDesign, and Advanced Adobe after Effects. The academy teaches skills important for media, such as photography, videography, writing and design.

The exhibition will be held from April 30 to May 5 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
