On the sidelines of the Arabic Language Summit, hosted by the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, Majarra has announced the launch of Nafseyati, an Arabic online platform for mental health content, in cooperation with France’s global platform, Psychologies. Nafseyati offers reliable, up-to-date, and science-based information by psychologists and specialists worldwide and from the region, transforming the accessibility to such content in Arabic. It’s part of Majarra’s network of Arabic websites.

“We’re delighted to launch Nafseyati, keeping Majarra’s promise of providing the best Arabic content on the internet” said Ammar Haykal, Majarra’s CEO. “This is a great partnership with a world-renowned provider to address the crucial topic of mental health and wellbeing,” he added. “We will continue to publish the most reliable content on topics that have an impact on our lives in the region. There will be more launches before the end of 2021.”

“The creation of original, useful Arabic content is central to twofour54’s mission, and our long-term partner Majarra has been at the forefront of this high potential industry,” said Michael Garin, CEO of twofour54 Abu Dhabi. “Mental health is more critical than ever to society’s development and wellbeing, and we are pleased to see Majarra contribute their reliability, credibility, and know-how to this important topic,” he added.

Elyane Vignau, Psychologies’ Digital Editor-in-chief, said: “For more than half a century, Psychologies has provided the world with reliable scientific information in psychology and wellbeing. Psychologies is available in several languages, and it’s always curated to serve a global audience and accessible to them. We’re delighted it’s now available in Arabic too. Vignau added that: “Majarra’s mission to provide the best Arabic content is inspiring, and we are pleased to cooperate with such a highly reputable publishing partner to launch Nafseyati, helping millions of Arab users access one of the most important subjects that allows humankind to understand themselves and their environment better, and to improve their lives.”

Commenting on the occasion, H.E. Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, praised the launch of “Nafseyati”, pointing out the importance of mental health as a key complement to physical health. Mental health is a substantial element with a direct impact on the quality of life of individuals across all communities. His Excellency added: “Abu Dhabi is determined to ensure the provision of an integrated health system that highlights the needs of community members and ensures their health and safety. Mental health is a priority of ours and we are pleased to drive and support national initiatives that focus on spreading awareness around this topic. These initiatives help employing innovative solutions, providing access to the mass public and tapping on all groups of the community to ensure mental health support is provided where needed. We will continue to establish local and global partnerships with leading institutions that will support us in finding innovative solutions towards the well-being and health of societies.”

During the pandemic, Abu Dhabi started providing a mental health support service to individuals suffering from mental pressures through the Istijaba hot-line, which is affiliated with the Medical Operations Command Centre in the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.

“It’s exciting to see French and Arabic internet leaders cooperating to improve the quality of life for all,” said H.E. Xavier Chatel, Ambassador of France to the UAE. “The pandemic brought psychological challenges due to lockdowns, social distancing, or remote working, all of which changed life as we know it. France has strengthened its roadmap for mental health and psychiatry.” He closed: “I’m confident Nafseyati will provide reliable information that Arabic speakers from the UAE and elsewhere need in such situations.”

Nafseyati covers psychology topics, showing the link between mental health and the variables we witness in the world around us and the impact on our personal, professional, and social lives. Among the subjects covered are sexual health, nutrition and sport, and addiction in various forms. Content will come in the form of articles, videos, reports, in-depth research, abstracts, and highlights, in addition to audio content such as audio articles and podcasts. The website will also allow readers to send questions to be answered by experts.

During the summit, Majarra signed an MoU with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) –  part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) to collaborate in multiple areas to promote the Arabic language both online and offline.

Majarra was also the first private sector company to announce its commitment to the UAE Declaration on the Arabic Language launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at Expo 2020 Dubai on Sunday, December 19.
