‘Hajwala 2: The Mystery Mission,’ the eagerly-anticipated sequel to the UAE’s biggest million-dollar box office hit ‘Hajwala’ is currently completing post production at twofour54 having been filmed solely in the UAE.

The action comedy was shot in several locations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain and is the latest Arabic production to work with twofour54.

The Director and Producer made use of the twofour54’s award-winning facilities, including one of its 24 4K edit suites, as well as Davinci colour grading and sound services, over the past 30 days.

‘Hajwala 2: The Mystery Mission’ is the sequel to the highest-grossing UAE film of all time, 2016’s action hit ‘Hajwala: The Missing Engine’, and revolves around the story of a band of outlaw car drifters. It is directed by Ibrahim bin Mohamed and Hasan Aljabri. The cast includes Captain Abdallah Youssef, the Saudi drift champion; Kshouna, a leading female automotive sportsperson; Miral Niazi, an Iraqi actress; Hussein Al Hosani, a young comedian and Emirati actor; Omar Al Hashmi, the renowned drifter; and Abdo Feghali, a famous Lebanese drifter, while film’s crew consists of some 30 individuals with international backgrounds and experiences.

H.E. Maryam Eid AlMheiri, CEO of Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi and twofour54, said: “The volume of content created in the Arab world is still very small compared to the size of the population and the demand, so it is critical that we address this as an industry.

“Projects such as Hajwala are showcasing the incredible talent we have in Abu Dhabi and the unrivalled support we can offer in helping filmmakers realise their vision.

“I hope that the success of producer Ali Al Marzouqi and directors Ibrahim bin Mohamed and Hasan Aljabri and their team inspires many more young Emirati filmmakers to collaborate with twofour54 and bring their stories to the big screen.”

The producer of ‘Hajwala 2’, Ali Al Marzouqi, said: “The support twofour54 offers filmmakers is unmatched in the region and it is certainly the home of Emirati cinema. Having world-class post-production facilities on our doorstep, is an incredible advantage for filmmakers in this region and audiences will see the result for themselves when ‘Hajwala 2’ hits the big screen on 15 November.”

Abu Dhabi has seen a surge in interest as a location for Arabic productions in recent years. For example, earlier this year, twofour54 and Abu Dhabi Film Commission announced their partnership on Emirati movie ‘Fan of Amoory’. The film, which is produced by Cinema Vision Films, a partner at twofour54, has gone on to represent the UAE in official competition at six international film festivals. And, last year alone, more than 10 Arabic TV productions filmed in Abu Dhabi, such as Hijjawi Production and Distribution’s modern drama ‘Something from the Past’. Other Arabic productions being made at twofour54 include popular TV series ‘Al Asoof’ and ‘Iftah Ya Simsim’.

twofour54 has also entered into strategic partnerships with a number of content creators from the region to produce Arabic content, including a three-year deal with O3 Productions that secured an additional 300 production days a year to Abu Dhabi.
