23 Jul 2019

twofour54 Abu Dhabi and Cinema Vision Films are continuing their prolific collaboration with new Arabic feature film ‘Ghost’ directed by award winning UAE director Amer Salmeen Al Murry, after completing 30 days of filming at twofour54’s award-winning backlot, Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain city.

The new partnership follows the box office success and international acclaim for Emirati hit ‘Fan of Amoory’, which won 6 awards and participated in 20 International film festivals, also produced in collaboration with twofour54. Now, twofour54 and Cinema Vision Films are turning their attention to another production, ‘Ghost’, a blend of horror, thriller and comedy, which filmed at twofour54’s backlot in the Khalifa Industrial Zone (KIZAD) and will begin editing at twofour54’s post production facility this month. The cast and crew took advantage of twofour54’s state-of-the-art facilities and advanced infrastructure, all of which has been purpose-built to empower content creators and encourage more film and TV productions in Abu Dhabi.

H.E. Maryam Eid AlMheiri, CEO of Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi and twofour54, said: “Over the years we have been proud to witness the evolution of the Emirati film industry, which has explored an increasingly broad range of story lines. It has been exciting to follow the trajectory of Amer Salmeen Al Murry’s career and support him throughout the production of his award-winning films. ‘Ghost’, with its blend of genres, continues to push boundaries and is an exciting indication of what the future holds for our region’s film industry.

“We are fully committed to empowering Emirati filmmakers and we are confident of their ability to be the voice of our nation and youth in media.”

Cinema Vision Films is again benefiting from Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s 30% rebate on production and post-production spend in the Emirate, a main driver for local and international productions to the Capital. The company has benefited from the rebate for the feature film ‘Going to Heaven’, which won nine awards and participated in 35 international film festivals, and ‘Fan of Amoory’, which won six awards and participated in 20 international film festivals.

Amer Salmeen Al Murry, said: “After the smooth and seamless experience of working with twofour54 on ‘Fan of Amoory, there was never any doubt we’d be collaborating with them again on ‘Ghost’. The support twofour54 and Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s rebate offers UAE filmmakers is unwavering and plays a significant role in enabling us local content creators to bring our work to the international stage.

‘Ghost’ stars a host of established local talents including Mariam Sultan, Abdelah Al Junaibi, Alaa Shaker, Hmeed al Awadi, Khaled Alnuaimi, Mayed Al Bloushi along with four new actors to UAE cinema, Kano Al Kendy, Rehab Al Mheiri, Lobna Alhasan and Rasem Hamdan. The film also features a special appearance from Algerian award-winning actor Jilali Boujemaa. This will be the first time Boujemaa stars in an Emirati movie.

The film’s storyline centres around a conflict of inheritance with a grandmother demanding all members of her family live together before she agrees to sell it. The adventure begins as the family travels from Abu Dhabi to the House, where mysterious events happen.
