twofour54 and “Wanna Read?” join forces to nurture young patients in UAE Year of Reading

06 Mar 2016

In celebration of the UAE’s Year of Reading and to give back to the community, twofour54 and Sheikha Shamma’s “Wanna Read?” initiative have consolidated their cooperation efforts by signing a three-year agreement aimed at nurturing children’s learning and educational development.

“Wanna Read?” is an initiative set up in 2013 by Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan under the H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation, to encourage children in hospital to continue their learning through reading. It is one of three charitable organisations that twofour54 is partnering with under its #United4UAE campaign that aims to give back 2,454 hours to the community.

Under the new agreement, twofour54 and “Wanna Read?” will work together to ensure that more children who are in hospital can experience the benefits of reading with community volunteers. twofour54 will also host special screenings with “Wanna Read?” in its state-of-the-art post production screening room at the Khalifa Park campus and offer studio space, equipment and production services support. Additionally, twofour54 will assist “Wanna Read?” in its promotional activities.

Commenting on the partnership, founder of “Wanna Read?”, Sheikha Shamma said: “Wanna Read?” is fortunate to have twofour54’s expertise and support directed to its advantage and I am delighted that we have formalised our partnership through this agreement today. Collaborating with twofour54 under its #United4UAE CSR initiative will create a greater impact, helping children to read and learn as they heal in hospital, as well as increasing awareness of our initiative amongst twofour54 employees, campus partners and the entire Abu Dhabi community.”

Chair of Media Zone Authority-Abu Dhabi (MZA) and twofour54 board, H.E. Noura Al Kaabi, said: “twofour54’s #United4UAE initiative celebrates our nation’s shared purpose and values. twofour54 certainly shares the goal of “Wanna Read?” to nurture the development of our nation’s young people. With special guest Stormtroopers from the Star Wars film, I visited children at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, so I have seen first-hand the difference Sheikha Shamma’s gracious initiative is making to the lives of young patients and I’m honoured to be involved in it personally. twofour54 has committed to giving back 2,454 hours of service to the community and I’m delighted that “Wanna Read?” will be the recipient of many of these hours from the twofour54 community in the UAE’s Year of Reading.”

#United4UAE was launched by twofour54 for the UAE’s 44th National Day to celebrate the nation’s unity in purpose, values, and ambitions and to give back to the local community. Through the campaign twofour54 pledges to devote 2,454 volunteer hours from employees and partners to community organisations and charities including Emirates Red Crescent, the “Wanna Read?” initiative, and Special Care Center.
