twofour54, Abu Dhabi’s media and entertainment hub, and the National Media Council (NMC) announced today a new initiative that will see them jointly launch its first ‘Creatives4Good’ competition.

The initiative calls on the UAE’s creative community to channel their imagination to produce positive content inspired by the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

The competition is open to Arabic and English speakers who are either UAE nationals or residents, aged 18-35. To enter, participants must submit a minute-long video that defines ‘creativity’. twofour54 will review all applications and shortlist finalists to attend a three-day mentoring workshop at twofour54.

His Excellency Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director General of the NMC, said: “The ‘Creatives4Good’ initiative provides a platform for the UAE’s innovative minds to come together at a national level to employ their dynamic skill sets to effectively communicate the spirit of giving, in light of our collective responsibility to promote a culture of community engagement.”
His Excellency added, “We look forward to another successful collaboration with our strategic partners at twofour54 as our efforts have yielded outstanding results to date, and managed to engage the Emirati media sector and create awareness about the importance of volunteering and charity as part of the noble objectives of the UAE’s Year of Giving.”

Her Excellency Maryam AlMheiri, CEO of the Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi and twofour54, said: “At twofour54, we champion the creation of original and imaginative content because we believe it enhances our world for the better – and can inspire people to acts of kindness and generosity.
“We’re delighted to be supported in this competition by the National Media Council, who share our vision of nurturing the development of the media industry in the UAE.

“In the spirit of the Year of Giving, we envision the ‘Creatives4Good’ competition as a way of encouraging the UAE’s vibrant creative community to use their talents to create a better, more compassionate world.”
During the mentoring workshop, selected participants will be split into five groups comprising three members each. They will learn from leading figures in the media industry, and work together in groups to compete on a final project, standing to win 20,000 AED per team member.

Abdallah Al Shami, Managing Partner at MAD Solutions, said: “I’m thrilled to be running one of the workshops during the Creatives4Goods mentoring sessions. My workshop will focus on how film distribution in the Arab world works, and provide guidance on how to use social media and digital promotion to create a compelling distribution campaign for your film.
“We have so much creative talent in this region, and it’s important that the media and creative industries play an active role in mentoring, nurturing, and developing the filmmakers, writers, directors, and creators of tomorrow. Creatives4Good is an important step in the right direction in fostering a collaborative, supportive ecosystem where talent can thrive.”
