Saarah joined the Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi as Director of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs and Companies Registrar in February 2019.

She is an England & Wales qualified solicitor and has been working as a lawyer in the UAE’s media sector since 2008. Saarah spent over four years as part of twofour54’s legal team (between 2008 and 2013), taking a key role in drafting and setting up the regulatory framework for the Media Zone – Abu Dhabi.

Before her return to twofour54, Saarah spent three years as Legal Director for Middle East broadcaster OSN, managing a team of commercial lawyers and advising senior members of the business on legal risks and mitigation strategies. Saarah also drafted and implemented OSN’s Editorial Manual and Guidelines, advising and training the editorial teams on the UAE’s legal and regulatory framework and the suitability of content for regional broadcast.

Prior to OSN, Saarah spent several years as a senior lawyer in law firm Bird & Bird, based in Dubai, building the firm’s successful regional media practice.

Saarah holds an LLB Law degree from the University of Bristol, UK, and a master’s degree in UK, EU and US Copyright Law from King’s College University, London.
