twofour54 attends Dubai International Film Festival with representation from creative lab, intaj and Abu Dhabi Film Commission

twofour54’s creative lab is involved in a total of ten films which are being screened at DIFF 2013, five of which are being screened in competition for the esteemed Muhr Emirati Awards on the occasion of their world premiere.

Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to develop the media sector in the UAE, twofour54 is attending this year’s Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, between 6th and 14th December with representation from creative lab which supports emerging Arab talent, intaj’s world class film and television services and Abu Dhabi Film Commission, which will be promoting its production incentive scheme.

twofour54’s creative lab is involved in a total of ten films which are being screened at DIFF 2013, five of which are being screened in competition for the esteemed Muhr Emirati Awards on the occasion of their world premiere. They include: short films ‘Bahar’ by Abdullah Al Junaibi and Humaid Al Awadi; ‘Sunset State’ by Mustafa Abbas; ‘13:37’ Eisa Al Sabousi and ‘This is My Night’ by Alaa Shaker. ‘The Brain That Sings’ by Amal Al Agroobi will also be screened. This feature length documentary was produced in partnership with Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation; Aflamnah, the digital crowd-funding platform and Mr. Badr Jafar, an Emirati social entrepreneur who has supported a series of local music and film productions.

Nine of the films will also take part in Cinetech, a one-of-a-kind digital video library designed for sales agents, distributors and rights holders. Cinetech is a platform to safely screen films and communicate with sales agents. The films at Cinetech this year include: ‘ICE’, ‘Happy Birthday Younis’, ‘Al Rajeem’, ‘Daddy ABC’, ‘Feeding Five Hundred’, ‘Bahar’, ‘Sunset State’, ‘This Is My Night’ and ‘13:37’. For ‘Daddy ABC’ and ‘Feeding Five Hundred’ the appearance at DIFF follows success at this year’s Abu Dhabi Film Festival where ‘Daddy ABC’ was awarded ‘Best Emirati Film’ and ‘Best Jury Award’ and ‘Feeding Five Hundred’ was awarded ‘Best Short Documentary’.

Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s incentive scheme to attract international and regional producers comes in the form of a 30% cash rebate on all qualifying spend in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
