Fast & Furious 7
Major Hollywood production Fast and Furious 7 filmed some of its scenes in Abu Dhabi, the movie is the latest highly-anticipated installment of the action-thriller series, which is one of the highest-grossing movie franchises of all time. The film was written by Chris Morgan and directed by James Wan. It stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Lucas Black. It is the first film of the series to take place after The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, with the three previous installments being set between 2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift.
The Fast & Furious 7 team were attracted by the Emirate’s unique locations, twofour54 Film & TV Services’ experienced crew and ADFC’s production incentive; a 30% rebate on a qualifying spend in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Fast & Furious 7 was filmed at iconic locations in Abu Dhabi, including Emirates Palace, Al Ain city and Jumeirah Etihad Towers. twofour54 Film & TV Services served as the UAE producer of the film.
Fast & Furious 7 premiered on 1 April, 2015 and had the biggest opening weekend since November 2013. Globally the film took $384 million at the box office, making it the fourth-biggest worldwide debut of all-time. Fast and Furious 7, which took advantage of the ADFC 30% rebate, also took the number one position in all 63 international markets and delivered the franchise’s best ever opening, beating all six previous films.
Not only have millions of viewers across the world seen Abu Dhabi on the big screen, the stars of the film have also shared their affection for the Emirate while on the red carpet of the premiere.
Also on the red carpet was a delegation from Abu Dhabi who visited LA for the world premiere of Fast and Furious 7 in Los Angeles. The delegation included executives from Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, Etihad Airways, Emirates Palace and twofour54.
